Hello Members
My name is Ahmed Naoual, KF graduate (93). Upon
graduation, I worked as a free lancer for a couple of
offices in Cabablanca, but this myriad of parasites
clining to the trade, stripping the vocation from
whatever noble, highbrow characteristics it might have
acquired through the sheer volume of knowledge it is
supposed to involve, turning it into a vulgar
opportunistic means of subsistence, I simply quit and
started a small business, selling underwear and
perfumes. But the love of the trade still lingered in
some little corner of my heart. I packed up and left.
Moving round like a latter-day Sinbad, I finally
settled down in Tripoli, where I am currently working
for an international construction company with offices
in New Delhi (head office), London, Dubai, Chicago and
Tripoli.
Last summer, while on holiday back home, I was
impressed by the enormous economic and social changes
which seemed to have taken place in my absence. My
leave was quite short so I did not have time to check
on the world of translation but I was told the trade
had been somewhat cleansed and organized.
A. Naoual
