05/18/2005 Samplitude 8.2
-There’s no updated English 8.2 help file available yet, please have a
look at the version 8.2 info center at http://www.samplitude.com for
further information.
- Enhanced Take Manager
General:
The Take Manager appears in the new manager dialog as a further tab and
can therefore always remain open.
When the object is activated the takes matching the object are displayed
for standard filters.
With multiple selections (e.g. with multitrack recordings) the last
clicked object is used.
Creating takes while recording remains the same. Before recording, the
take is either named manually or automatically (e.g during punch-in/loop
recording).
The Take Manager can then remain open. After recording, the new take is
automatically displayed in the Take Manager.
Following destructive effect calculations, a new take is also created
and becomes visible in the Take Manager immediately.
The take is now saved with the VIP. This also enables use of the "Each
take in new file" function, which allows you to exchange the takes after
reloading the VIPs.
Take Exchange
-1. The take is exchanged by checking the box preceding the currently
used take. By default, multi-selection exchanges all objects. With this
option switched off only the current track is changed.
-2. Furthermore the takes can also be exchanged directly in the VIP via
ctrl+right-click on an object. All matching takes are displayed in a
special context menu.
-Take Composer
-Selected takes are positioned above each other in a new Take Composer
window (from track 2), all visible takes are used now if none or only
one take is selected
-The current take is displayed in track 1 as well (Solo activated)
-The take is played back together with the initial VIP when pressing the
Space bar. Ctrl+Space either plays back the selected object (Solo track
is then ignored) or the complete
Take Composer.VIP, if no object is selected
-Solo lets you easily switch between takes (Solo is default set to
exclusive, normal Solo with Shift+Alt)
- Shift-C (Copy to …) copies selected range to first track
-Special function: modified scissors tool for fast cutting of take
sections into the first track. Simply click on the selected In Point
with the corresponding tool.
-When closing the project, the first non-muted track can be transferred
back to the initial project
- re-transfer to original project is done between punch markers, this
way you can extend the working range by moving the markers
-direct access from arranger by object context menu (right click
->select takes) or take selection menu with ctrl right click
Further new functions in the Take Manager:
-Final destructive of a take with corresponding treatment of the undo
chain
-Renaming of takes
- Advanced track functionality
- Folder tracks
-Command "Track->Insert->New Folder"
- Empty folder is inserted above the active track
- If tracks are selected via a range, they are inserted in the folder
- Tracks can be moved in the folder by drag & drop
-Folder tracks may be used for visual structuring and grouping of
certain processes:
-contained tracks can be hidden together by using the track size button
of the folder
track
- Switch Mute, Solo, Lock, Volume, Pan together
- Joint Record switch (in this case the indicated condition
corresponds with
the first track of the folder. Of course, switching is only
possible with different
input devices)
- Usually you can see all tracks in the folder
- range selection is carried out across all tracks -> range-based cut
operations
- An included track can be used as a reference track per track menu
- All objects of this track are copied into the folder and
can be used there for joint
object-based cutting operations
-But only if the source material has been grouped
beforehand!
- All objects that may have been in the folder track will be
deleted.
-This also affects all object effects and object editor
operations
(some changes are only applied after clicking on Apply/OK)
- Not visible in the Mixer
- folders are ignored for track numbering in mixer and VIP
- left border and contained tracks are highlighted with folder color
- nested folders possible
-Control grouping in the arranger/ mixer
- Mute / Solo / Record /Monitoring / Volume / Pan / Lock / In+Output
Device can now also be selected multiply in the arranger via Shift+Click
or Control+Click and are then activated together
- The Shift special functions for Mute (->Mute inactive)/Solo
(->exclusive)/Record (->Record all) are still available via Shift+Alt
just like in the Mixer
- The controls can be grouped permanently by right-clicking and thereby
opening the menu in the upper section (e.g. on Global Mute/Solo) or on
the Group buttons in the Mixer.
- Grouping is indicated by the selection marker or the group number
respectively
- The in or out devices for several tracks can now be changed together.
When routed to one bus the routing order is then accounted for (i.e.
from left to right and top to bottom only).

automatically minimized with the “Track maximize” command
-Partial tracks are displayed at the top or lower screen border for
softer vertical scrolling

- Start the supplied CmRuntimeUser.exe to install the driver (if
not using the v8.1 installation CD)
- CodeMeter is only available as a USB device (CodeMeter stick, short:
CM Stick)
- CodeMeter uses internal TCP/IP communication with localhost and thus
TCP/IP is needed. This may cause problems or warning messages when using
firewalls.
- CodeMeter always installs a flash drive since there are CM sticks with
flash memory available, but the supplied CM stick doesn’t have any and
still shows 2 MB memory – any data stored there will be lost

now shown in the dithering menu
- New monitoring option in the System/Record dialog for quick, exclusive
ASIO punch-in monitoring – if activated, the playback signal is switched
